The enclosed data for Texas are derived from the U.S. Bureau of the Census release of state-level population estimates for July 1, 2004. We have developed Texas specific data that are provided for your use. Four sets of information are provided, these include:
- Summary Tables for 2000-2004 for Texas and Selected Other States
- Detailed Tables showing year-to-year components of Change for Texas and the United States
- Charts showing 2000-2004 patterns
- Charts showing 2003-2004 patterns
Please note several limitations in these data that require care in use:
- Data shown for the period from 2000 to 2001 are not annual data but are from April 1, 2000 to July 1, 2001 and hence are for a 15 month not a 12 month period. As a result comparisons with subsequent yearly changes should only be made after the 2000 to 2001 data have been adjusted for this
difference. Similarly the total period of change from 2000 to 2004 is for a 51 month not a 48 month (4 year) period.
- The data we show for domestic migration include data on net movers which we consider domestic migrants. These values are not included in Census values. Thus our values for domestic migration will differ slightly from those shown by the Census. Without such an adjustment the values of the components of population change shown in the census data (natural increase, international and domestic migration) do not sum to total population change.
- These are estimates and subject to all of the limitations inherent in population estimates.
