About the Programs
Access to population data is critical to decision makers in governmental agencies, private businesses, non-profit organizations, and academics. The survival and competitiveness of such entities frequently depend on the availability of timely, accurate, and useful data whether they use those figures to locate a new business, analyze the market for a new product or service, establish need for grants or research, or develop public policies.
The Texas State Data Center, Texas Population Estimates and Projections Programs, and Institute for Demographic and Socioeconomic Research provide the most current population data available for all of these data users. Last year, the Texas State Data Center network filled over 45,000 requests for data.
